The Shenzhen Domestic Waste Classification Science Education Museum, which was inaugurated in August in Xiangmi Park, Futian District, now officially opens to the public for promoting public awareness on waste management.

The museum beside Huami Lake in the park was jointly developed by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau and Futian District Government. With a floor area of nearly 1,800 square meters, the museum showcases Chinese and foreign history of garbage classification and waste disposal technologies around the world.

When the museum was inaugurated in August, the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau signed an agreement for a new round of strategic cooperation with Vanke Foundation, a charity organization of Shenzhen-based property developer Vanke, to further promote garbage sorting in the city.

Shenzhen thus far has built a total of 22 waste-sorting science education halls or museums, according to the city’s urban management authority. Visitors can book their visit to these places on WeChat account “mlszgzh” (Click “便民服务” on the menu, then click “垃圾分类,” then click “科普馆预约” and select the hall or museum you will visit).
